Ensuring that health and medical records are kept private and secure is a concern we all share, both as industry professionals and as individuals. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, commonly known as HIPAA, sets standards for the protection of individuals medical records and other personal health information. This training will provide you with an overview of those standards—and an understanding of how they apply to your job responsibilities and workplace. The HIPAA law can be complex so this course doesn't cover every situation that may arise. If you ever have any questions about whether something is covered under HIPAA, don't hesitate to ask your supervisor or Human Resources. This material will be presented in a news show format which will include news reports, answers to email questions, interactions and more. At the end of the training you'll take a quiz to demonstrate your understanding.
